Grymm Ramblings

Well, that’s enough from old man Cyradwee for a while. He’s not going anywhere anyway.

Now, as far as this page goes, its totally torn right from real life events. And just for the record, to give you sense of time passage… This would be occurring the very next day after the events of these two pages.

Other than that, we think this page speaks for itself really.

Buckle in. The arc is going to be one of those fun ones. Chock full o’ stuff.

Also, I just realized that I spent a ridiculous amount of time pencilling, darkening, coloring, and texturing Mirth and her clothes for this page and you can barely see some of the detailed color work I did. So, here. Have a close-up shot of Mirth. Because goddamn it. When I spend that long working on something, I want it to be seen.

Now then. Its actually been a while since I had anything to really post about outside of general miscellanea and talking about things involving money. You’re not here for that. You’re here for the comic. You’re here for the brains scrapings that CreepKnight and I fill the newsposts with, and you’re here for the amusement of the comment section. So let me get the cheese grater and scrape off some cortex.

So you might have missed it the other day, but for the first time ever we got a comment from a new person who exhibited… distaste for Voodoo Walrus. Albeit for all the wrong reasons. Its rather obvious that said person is some kind of campaigner for or against some personl agenda and never bothered to really the archives here before jabbering on.

Being that its 2am and I was bored and commission work was unfulfilling and entertainment was scarce… I decided to vengeful and spiteful and petty and basically said in so many words “Hey everybody! Sic ‘em!”

Friends, that was wrong of me. I shouldn’t use the power of our glorious fandom to abuse and tear apart those that come and have issues with what we do, be those issues real or imaginary. No. Its not right. Namely because we know that when you see something like that, you’ll be all too ready to leap on newcomer and express to them exactly why they’re wrong in one way or another. And that’s one of the great things about this little community that’s lashed itself together from love and violent thoughts. Because let’s face it. That’s just the start.

The more people that visit the site, the more chance there is that we’re going to get trolls, “haters”, and people that generally just want to be assholes. And we’re cool with that. Because that means a couple of things. First, it means we’re getting out to more and more people, and that’s magnificent! Secondly, it means we have cannon fodder to feed to OUR inner assholes. Because we’ve just been WAITING for the chance to tear down people that deserve it and strip away the layers of their ego like a tasty, tasty onion. Then we’re going to take that onion and use it to ad d a flavorful pop to some stir fry. Or maybe put it on top of a burger or steak. Hell, if its Monday, we’ll throw it with the weekly red sauce we fix for various things.

Well. I’ve completely run out of steam on writing this. My eyes are tired from commission work and I still have half a dozen pieces of art to pack up for mailing out and at least another commission to ink tonight. Plus posting the finished commissioned to applicable galleries. So yeah. See you in the comments.

There is a penny stock ad from Project Wonderful on the Walrus…

Ok… Now I’m not beating on the walrus, obviously, but if you have a successful stock trading program something tells me you would need to be out pimping it on, of all places, the walrus. It just isn’t the place I go to find new trade ideas. And as a financial advisor, there aren’t many places I go that aren’t to research and read up on financial topics. This is, however, one of them.

Speaking of penny stocks, don’t trade them. Sure, I bought blockbuster stock at a little under .10 cents a share in feb. and sold it for .14 cents a few weeks later, but now it’s trading at .05 and is still very much bankrupt. Its too easy to lose money in such volatile things.

        Don’t let our lack of finances be a reflection on Vensik. After all, its hard to advise on something that doesn’t really exist. But once we are making proper revenue, he’ll be ready to shine.

  Weird. I wonder if we’re seeing the stock ads because I mentioned money in the news post. Seems kinda silly that one little reference leads to a whole bundle of ads on the subject. Maybe Friday we should mention corsets and alternative fetish models in the newspost.

Wonderful work gentlemen. Well I think the spears would be less painful. YOU FORGOT MIRTH. Outside the store. And if you hadn’t said sic’em we would have anyways. Don’t mind not liking the things we like. But as stated before rampant stupidity is gonna get you hurt. It is bad enough have to deal with it in the real world. Like I said, don’t mind not liking VW but if you don’t at least pick a valid reason.

You are mistaken, Grymm. The battle call would have been raised nonetheless. Think of it this way: many of your fans are writers or artists. I know of at least two other commenters that are writers, and a few silent fans who are quite respectable artists themselves. We like writing. We like writing dark terrible things about dark terrible people, and shaming them. We’re good at it. We like a challenge.

Also, I’ve seen another girl wearing Mirth’s outfit, but our dear Mirth is the only one I’ve seen pull it off.

  Actually, in my own roundabout way, that’s exactly the point I was trying to get across. That there’s no need for any of the Walrus creative force to say “Unleash Hell on this person”. If they deserve it, the community will rise up and insure justice is served.

    But therein lies my point – we like a challenge. If you hadn’t made it a general call to action, the communal offering to this person would have barely risen beyond ‘fuck you, fuck off, fuck a log, I hope you get fucked by a logarithm’, etc. Instead, it became a community challenge – say it with class, say it with impressive verse and diction, see if you can impress others with your literary war plumage. We love being challenged from on high – it gives us a communal target.

My first thoughts were “Mirth’s in red….we’re all gonna die”

True it was kind of evil to point the mob at a new commenter who was ignorant but not quite a troll. Then again I walk that middle ground between fanatic-fan and “it’s the internet half the people I meet are just the alter-ego(s) of someone else.

  It is fun to think red might be Mirth’s “battle mode” color. But really I just wanted to change things up a bit. I kind of fell into a habit of coloring coding the fashion for the core cast. Blues for Bowler, purple for Mirth, green for Grymm, and blacks and browns for CreepKnight. I’m not terribly fond of falling into a set pattern though. Too much like those other comics where characters are ALWAYS wearing the exact same thing day in and day out. Thus I made it a point to inject a healthy dose of fashion diversity!

Just read that comment. Got only one thing to say:
I’ve seen that avatar before. This person reads another webcomic and comments on it from time to time(or each comic). I’ve read the comic as wel(good/nice comic) and recognized the avatar from his/her comments.
Never thought that person would end up here(Voodoo Walrus is very diffrent from that webcomic).

Ok, so maybe more than one thing to say. No hard feelings right?….right….right+.+’?

  Oh we could never hold any hard feelings towards anyone. Not even that person. If anything we’re just more interested in why they chose to make a willingly ignorant and presumptuous comment without even giving the Walrus archive a fair shake.
